Colorado Mental Health Institute Project
NG Companies was engaged in a comprehensive project at a 300-acre secured federal prison in Pueblo, Colorado, dating back to 1920. The historic nature of the facility meant that underground utility records were incomplete or outdated, requiring extensive subsurface investigation before any construction or renovation work could proceed safely.
The NG team provided a full suite of services including utility locating, hydrovac excavation, and video pipe inspection across the sprawling campus. Using electromagnetic locating equipment and ground-penetrating radar, the crew systematically mapped the century-old underground utility network. Hydrovac was then employed to verify locations and expose utilities for visual confirmation, while video pipe inspection assessed the condition of aging drainage and sewer infrastructure.
Working within a secured facility added an additional layer of complexity, requiring strict adherence to security protocols and coordination with facility management. NG Companies successfully delivered comprehensive utility mapping and condition assessment data that enabled the project team to plan infrastructure improvements with confidence, avoiding costly surprises and ensuring the safety of both workers and facility occupants.
